In 1987, 75 million people rented a XXX porn video. Five years later, that number had rocketed to 490 million rentals of the most graphic porn. By 1996, the rentals reached 665 million. Pornography is being produced around the world, but the center of consumption is here in America. We distribute more than anyone else.

Americans are the only nation in the world that claim it is a Christian nation, yet we use more drugs, consume more alcohol. Americans use 80% of all pain killers in the world. Our infant mortality is staggering, the number of Americans with STD’s is off the charts.

The divorce rate in the American Evangelical church is 4% higher than the national average.

2 Chronicles 7:14King James Version (KJV)

14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

The first step in handling your addiction is admitting you have a problem.

Look in the mirror and seriously ask yourself, how humble are you?

Pride is continually condemned in both Old and New Testaments. Man is God’s creature and has no right to lord it over other persons, since God alone is over man. Christ, Moses, and many other admirable characters in the Bible are portrayed as humble men who acted as servants, not arrogant lords. Those who exalt themselves will, according to Scripture, be humbled while the humble will be exalted. The person who would be first should make himself servant of all, for the  last shall be first and the first shall be last (Matt. 20:16).

Many people do not realize that much of their behavior is the result of being on an ego trip.  Pride is part of our natural sin of self-centeredness. (I’m tempted to say our National Sin). Almost every problem we experience can be traced to it, and it can be taken to such extremes that a person may actually worship himself, as evidenced by total devotion to their own self-interest.

The Spirit of God living in Christians has the power to help us obey God, it’s our calling to be holy, obedient and faithful to the Word of God. But we have to admit we are screwed up, seriously flawed and laugh at the idea we can be perfect.

As singer, song writer Ray Steven’s says; “oh Lord it’s hard to be humble when you are perfect in every way.”

How long has it been, or ever that you ever prayed “Lord let me be a servant, let me learn humility” that long huh.
