knock you down

Psalm 23 King James Version (KJV)

23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

The danger of knowing something so well that you might miss the really important part. Like the Lord’s Prayer or Psalm 23, we must not take them for granted just because they are familiar. Likewise the great hymns.

Like; “he leadeth me”

  1. He leadeth me, O blessed thought!

    O words with heav’nly comfort fraught!

    Whate’er I do, where’er I be

    Still ’tis God’s hand that leadeth me.

    • Refrain:

      He leadeth me, He leadeth me,

      By His own hand He leadeth me;

      His faithful foll’wer I would be,

      For by His hand He leadeth me.

  2. Sometimes ’mid scenes of deepest gloom,

    Sometimes where Eden’s bowers bloom,

    By waters still, o’er troubled sea,

    Still ’tis His hand that leadeth me.

  3. Lord, I would place my hand in Thine,

    Nor ever murmur nor repine;

    Content, whatever lot I see,

    Since ’tis my God that leadeth me.

  4. And when my task on earth is done,

    When by Thy grace the vict’ry’s won,

    E’en death’s cold wave I will not flee,

    Since God through Jordan leadeth me.

With all my Road Ramblings this month, on the surface my trip home was a failure. But in the light of eternity I claim this one promise, “the footsteps of the righteous are led by God.” I don’t have to understand nor do I have to like it, but I do have to accept it.

Thank you Don for reminding me of that.

God bless you all.
