thinking over feeling

My wife and I spent a large part of today scooping poop, we have three very large dogs and because of the weather it’s been awhile, we filled a 5 gallon bucket 3 times. Our sides are sore from laughing so hard over divots, smears, pebbles, overflows and general poop comments.  And as there is no such thing as a wasted topic (pardon the pun), I have to ask how long has it been since you checked your life and cleaned things up.

I’ve written scores of diagnostic tests for psychological services over the years so it comes naturally to me to think in that kind of realm, so here are some questions I want you to ask yourself. None of these will be astounding and I’m sure you can come up with some of your own, and it’s a short list, just to get you started.

  1. Doctrine, have one, know one, get one.

  2. Fire, doctrine is ok but God is a consuming fire, are you burning or burnt out.

  3. Presence, the only book I recommend on the presence of God is by Brother Lawerence, the modern books on the topic suck.

  4. Thirst for the things of God.

  5. This one is going to surprise you, do you control your spending, think about that one.

  6. Fellowship, nothing screams unbalanced as the lone Christian.

The truth of Charles Wesley’s words still ring true: “Orthodoxy, or right opinion, is, at best, a very slender part of religion. Though right tempers cannot subsist without right opinions, yet right opinions may subsist without right tempers. There may be a right opinion of God without either love or one right temper toward Him. Satan is a proof of this.”

So clean up your lives and bring honor to God.

For all those that have been praying for Olivia, the doctors think they have it figured out and no surgery required.

Pray for Paul who is going through a very rough time.

Pray for Sarah who a year ago today her mom committed suicide.
