John-Wayne-p15

Some “evangelicals” are indeed using justification by faith alone as a license to sin; these can be deemed properly only as pseudo-evangelicals. Anyone who has the most rudimentary understanding of justification by faith knows that authentic faith always manifests itself in a zeal for obedience. No earnest Christian can ever have a cavalier attitude toward the law of God. Though obedience to such laws does not bring justification, the justified person will surely endeavor to obey them.

It is indeed a sad day when you will mocked by the brethren, you see when you try to lead a godly life filled with obedience to the Word of God; you are bringing conviction down upon those who want to live their lives as they want. They will withhold friendship, make fun of you, some will always have upon their lips; “surely it’s no sin….” Beware, like any seduction it can be strong or it can be subtle.

We are not free to do what is right in our own eyes. We are called to do what is right in His eyes.

Freedom should not be confused with autonomy. As long as evil exists in the world, the moral restraint of law is necessary. It is an act of grace by which God institutes government, which exists to restrain the evildoer. It exists to protect the innocent and the righteous. The righteous are called to support it as much as they possibly can without compromising their obedience to God.

Yes, that means you have to believe in evil. Today that is a foreign concept to most people. That is why the most important thing you can guard and protect is your moral character, godly traits and ways are vital to your testimony, your reputation and character. You can lose your health, your home and all your possessions, but never give up on your godly reputation.

Another concept forgotten in our sexed ravaged culture, Purity.
