nothing is to hard for God

One of the toughest topics you will ever deal with is abortion, it is a real hot button, a lot of women will instantly tell you that as a man you have no right to discuss the topic with them, it’s their body not yours. And although that is a true statement we (man or woman) belong to God. So with no political agenda here’s the biblical concept on abortion.

Most evangelical Christians feel that no medical doctor or practitioner has the right to play God in terminating human life through abortion.  No woman has the “right” over her own body to the extent that she has the freedom to destroy arbitrarily her unborn child.  The embryo growing inside her body is more than just another part of her.  It has separate existence.  It is another life!

The Scriptures place the highest value on human life.  It is sacred and of inestimable worth to God, who created it “in his own image” (Genesis 1:26,27), who sustains it (“In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind” Job 12:10, KJV), and who redeemed it (2 Corinthians 5:19).

Abortion is wrong because the Bible says, “Thou shalt not kill” (Deuteronomy 5:17, KJV).  It is wrong because every fetus has the potential of becoming a fully developed person, ultimately accountable before God.  David wrote thousands of years ago, “You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe.  Every day was recorded in you Book” (Psalm 139:16 TLB).

This problem has many facets.  Two which you may have to deal with are the woman who is considering having an abortion and the guilt of one who has already gone through with it.  These need to be treated differently as they are two different issues.

We care and want to help in any way we can.  God has an answer to every human situation and you can trust Him to work for your good. No matter what decision a woman makes after receiving counsel from you as their pastor you have to love them and help them.

For the woman that has had an abortion, stay away from hyper spiritual, holy roller women and groups like “Women Aglow” you will be branded a murderer and some nut job lady will tell you she hears your dead baby. I’ve seen it happen to often. Remember the guilt that you are feeling is going to tinge everything and everyone you talk to, so deal with the guilt before you make any other life changing decisions. God loves you and so should your church. And yes I’ve seen many women lead healthy lives and feel the love of God and their church.

“Children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.”

            Psalm 127:3, KJV

“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body, and knit them together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! It is amazing to think about. Your workmanship is marvelous – and how well I know it.  You were there while I was being formed in utter seclusion! You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe.  Every day was recorded in you Book!”

            Psalm 139:12-15 TLB

Forgiveness:

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”  1 John 1:9, KJV

“Let the [unrighteous] forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God for he will abundantly pardon.”

            Isaiah 55:7, KJV

“He forgives all my sins and heals all my disease; he redeems my life from the pit and crowns me with love and compassion.”

            Psalm 103:3,4 NIV

Abortion is not an unforgivable sin, so don’t let it separate you from God.

Prayer for Thelma, her spouse passed away 2 years ago and now she has to make some major changes.
