Resurrection-Doubting-Thomas

Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” Proverbs 27:17

True friends will put an edge on your life. They will make you a sharper person. Not all my friends do that for me, but my best friends do. Have you ever had a friend who loved you so much that he would even hurt you in order to help you?

Proverbs 27:6 says, “Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” What truer words of love can be spoken than from the heart of a friend who is going to spend an eternity with you? Even if those words hurt, they are words that will heal.

I am blessed with some great friends, some are pastors, we get together often and have great theological discussions about the books we are reading as we are all rabid readers. Some are parishioners that have stood by through thick or thin, others are work place pals, a band of brothers.

Then there are few, the very few, that know every flaw, every sin, every stupid thing we do, when the crap hits the fan they are the first you call and the first that call you. We call when we are tempted, we call when we’re not sure we’re going to get back up. There are no secrets, we have shared the best and the worst.

There are no anonymous confessions just bold, forthright, frank, sometimes scary moments and we share them all. I am convinced that you will be healthier, physically, mentally and spiritually if there are never any secrets in your life and someone knows every aspect of your life.

I hope you all have someone that loves, challenges and accepts all that you are, sins, warts, failures, delusions, mental illness, good times and bad; friends, they are rare, precious and few.
