“As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy; and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly” (1 Cor. 15:48).

It seems as though some Christians have a poor self-image simply because they are thinking and looking upon the failures and thoughts within, instead of being occupied with their glorified life above. “Beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory” (2 Cor. 3:18). Constant thoughts of guilt and failure are primary tools of the devil.

“‘If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new’ (2 Cor. 5:17). We must develop a prayer life and a habit of bible reading to cultivate new thinking. Nothing works better than bible memorization. Yes, I know at first it is really hard to do, but work on one verse a week. And you’ll be surprised how it gets easier. And I am talking about using the old 3×5 cards. Hand written, works better than anything else. Than color the verses in a small New Testament and bam, the results will surprise you.

The believer has, by faith, taken upon him the beauty of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is ‘in Him,’ he has been made the righteousness of God in Him. He is ‘accepted in the Beloved’ (Eph. 1:6). You have been recreated in the Lord Jesus. This is the beauty of the believer; and he is lovely in the eye of the Lord Jesus. ‘So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty; for he is thy Lord, and worship thou him’ (Ps. 45:11).

“And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly” (1 Cor. 15:49).

A better self image, a divine concentration on the new person in Christ. Remembering how God sees you through his Son. Put on a new image and a new way of thinking and you will fall less often. The chains of habitual sin can be broken.
